The Manava Beach Resort & Spa Moorea is committed to safeguarding threatened coral.
The island of Moorea is unrivaled in the world. The beauty of their lagoon, their pristine waters, their multicolored fish and numerous corals are proof to that.
Since 2006, the hotel has implemented an environment program in order to preserve the Polynesian coral reefs.
The hotel established a partnership with “To’a nui” which is a coral nursery association.
Together, as partners, they protect and preserve the biodiversity of the Polynesian coral reefs.
The coral reefs are spreading out over 700 000 kilometers (434 700 miles) which is equivalent to the surface area of France. French Polynesia has many coral reefs and own 13 000 kilometers (8073miles).
The coral reef is a unique and complex ecosystem that contributes to the preservation of bio-diversity in our sea and oceans. Today this ecosystem is in danger due to global warming, marine pollution, overfishing and many others.
The well being of the underwater flora is a key issue for most actors in French Polynesia. It is therefore necessary to preserve it.
This is the reason why the hotel has implemented an environment program in order to preserve the coral reefs located near our overwater bungalows.
With the help of the association To’a nui, artificial reef nurseries have been set up to safeguard endangered coral, to nurse it and allow it to grow in a protected environment .
